On Saturday August 21, 2010 yours trully joined seven other incredible women, 2 talented make up artist, 1 amazing photographer and the wonderful lady who made it all possible…Belle Noir’s Editor in Cheif, Aja Stubbs for the “I Love My Body” photo shoot in Brooklyn, NY.
I was so psyched to be a part of this shoot showcasing confident, successful and savvy plus sized Divas who love their body. In a society where so many women have a negative body image it was nice to come together with other women who have a positive body image, embraces their curves and truly love their bodies…flaws and all.
Kudos to Aja of Belle-Noir for an amazing piece!
Belle-Noir Comunications is a multimedia company that produces both online content and offline events that aim to promote the positive image of plus size women and women of Color.

Today the wait is finally over as Belle-Noir Communications debuted the long awaited digital relaunch of the plus size lifestyle publication, Belle-Noir Magazine! Founded by one of the original plus-size media innovators, Ms. Aja B., Belle-Noir Communications, has grown into a diversified company with many divisions to include: Phat Poetry, Curves and Cocktails, Belle-Noir Radio, Belle-Noir Blog and now the digital version of, Belle-Noir Magazine. In less than three months, Aja B. pushed the envelope to make her dreams a reality by relaunching her lifestyle magazine for the plus size community and followers who have been apart of this movement since day one. To kick off the birth of Belle-Noir Magazine, which will be released on a bi-monthly basis, the editorial team sought out plus-size runway showstopper Jeannie Ferguson for the cover. “Not only has Ms. Ferguson been an inspiration for plus-size women on the runway, she has been a supporter of Belle-Noir from day one. She has always believed in us and we believe in her,” said Belle-Noir Magazine Editor In-Chief, Aja B.
Along with exploring “The Plus Side of Fashion” with Jeannie Ferguson, Belle-Noir Magazine’s September/October 2010 issue also features an up close and person interview with soul songtress, Angie Stone, who talks about her weight loss journey, size discrimination and her new album, Unexpected. The issue also showcases the “Why I Love My Body” feature shot by photographer, Michaela Dalzell; which captures eight beautiful plus-size women who discuss the various reasons why their bodies are a declaration of love!
Additionally, Belle-Noir Magazine offers a little something for everyone from their interview with plus designer, Wilbur Pack & SK Designs, to tips on how to let your dollars make sense on a financial tip and much more!
